Kenneth Paul Hudson

Please note - Former platoon member and dog handler Kenneth Hudson passed away on October 6, 2016. He was diagnosed with liver cancer in 2015. Ken and his Scout Dog Sarge X052 served together from 1968-1969. Kenneth also served as Platoon Clerk in 1969. Ken and Sarge's service is appreciated and not forgotten. Our deepest condolences go out to his family.

Kenneth Paul Hudson (1948 - 2016) Obituary

LANCASTER – Mr. Kenneth Paul Hudson, 68, died Thursday, Oct. 6, 2016, at his home. He was born May 26, 1948, in Lancaster, the son of the late Henry Paul Hudson and Birdie Tillman Hudson. He was the husband of Becky Ghent Hudson. Mr. Hudson retired from Forshaw Distribution as warehouse manager. He served our country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a scout dog handler for the 47th Scout Dog Platoon while serving with the 101st Airborne Division. He enjoyed camping and often referred to these trips as making memories with his grandchildren. He was a member of Second Baptist Church. Mr. Hudson is survived by his wife of 48 years, Becky Ghent Hudson; a son, Jason Hudson and his wife, Vicki, of Greene-ville, Tenn.; a daughter, Karen H. Mauney and her husband, Ken, of Boiling Springs; a sister, Vivian Whitaker and her husband, Crawford, of Fort Lawn; six grandchildren, Jordan Dean and her husband, Dustin, Lauren Mauney, Cassie Mauney, Kylie Mauney, Abby Hudson and Seth Hudson; and a great-grandson, Aaron Dean. The celebration of life memorial service for Mr. Hudson will be 11 a.m. Monday at Second Baptist Church by Dr. Brian Saxon and the Rev. Donnie Tillman. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Second Baptist Church, 1426 Great Falls Highway, Lancaster, SC 29720; or the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675. The family would like to say a special thank you to Hospice Care of South Carolina. An online guest register is available on the obituaries page at www.burgessfunerals.com. Burgess Funeral Home & Crematory, 1800 Charlotte Highway, Lancaster, is caring for the family of Mr. Hudson.

Announcing Paw Power, a never before published manuscript written by platoon member SGT Rusty Allen. This graphic book recounts, in his own words, SGT Allen's 1968-69 experiences while he served with his Scout Dog "Sig" in the 47th Scout Dog Platoon.
