7/21/03 At the Four Acres Motel in Wiliamstown, Massachusetts waiting for Jonathan H. to pick us up and drive us to the trailhead. The bed pillows were so big that Rough woke up with a sore neck and can hardly turn his head. He's hoping it will work itself out.

We sat on the motel porch under partly cloudy but threatening skies and nervously nibbled on a breakfast of fruit and pastry.
