7/21/03 Rough relaxes on the quartzite covered Pine Cobble summit and checks hike progress in the Long Trail Guide. The weather obscured our views of Mt. Greylock to the south. The trail was strewn with cobbles, but we didn't see any pines until we got past the summit and headed toward East Mt. through a scraggly pine and young birch forest.
