7/23/03 Here is our tent set up near Melville Nauheim Shelter. The area was dark, gloomy, and wet. We were the only ones tenting that night. Rough filtered water and dropped in the tablets. He was really thirsty and his neck still hurt. After failing to hang our food bag from slender trees near our tent we hung it in the shelter. Tumble made a dinner of Orzo with mushrooms and veggies in brown gravy. Although the meals were tasty we found that we didn't have big appetites and they were more than filling. At the shelter were four or five AT hikers. Our rain fly is on the tent and the footprint is angled to avoid the rock between the tent and the tree. We tried to get a fire going but failed due to all the moisture. It rained overnight.
