Breakfast at Gloomy, Wet Nauheim Shelter | ||
7/24/03 We awoke to a steady rain. As at Seth Warner, Tumble crawled under the rain fly and took the tent down while it was still protected from the rain, keeping it and the ground sheet from getting soaked. Meanwhile Rough dragged the rest of our stuff over the rocky path to the shelter. Each step pained his neck. About one-third of the picnic table in front of the shelter was under the overhang and protected from the rain. We ate breakfast huddled on the dry portion. As Rough sat contemplating the rain he reached a low in his camping enthusiasm. Again we were the last out of camp, marveling at the efficiency of other hikers. We're still trying to develop our own efficiency for packing and unpacking our packs. |
