7/25/03 The ups and downs and boulders on the trail made for slow going. Tumble stayed in the lead so we could go along at her pace. Rough: "Going uphill I found myself quickly closing the gap between us and I would suddenly be practically right on top of Tumble, which was unsafe should she fall or step backwards. Sometimes I would increase the distance between us, sometimes I would wait below until she got to the top of a climb, and once in a long while I would go ahead so as to maintain my momentum (as opposed to having to keep on stopping)."
