Kelley Stand Road: Heading for Stratton Mountain | ||
7/26/03 We walked through thick, swampy areas with lots of puncheons and lots of water and lots of bugs, but the skies were clear! Finally, our first day without rain. Two ladies passed us going south and got confused when we told them we were through hikers and today was our sixth day. They couldn't understand how we hiked all that way from Georgia in just a few days. We found this confusion common because the AT and LT share the trail for the first 100 miles in Vermont. We also found that some AT hikers were unaware that they were hiking on Vermont's Long Trail, the oldest hiking trail in the US. We crossed a wooden bridge and reached Kelley Stand Road by 10am. |
