8/17/03 Tumble signs the register at Stark's Nest. At this point we were 2.5 miles from Appalachian Gap and almost back to the Battleground. We didn't stay long. We were particularly eager to get home to a shower and Chinese food. We knew that the trail ahead was a dangerous and tricky descent even in dry weather and now everything was wet and we were fatigued.
