8/26/03 Buchanan Shelter was .3 miles down a spur. We got to the shelter at 4pm and put up our tent on a platform. We'd rather tent on the ground, but platforms help protect the environment. Jack, a SoBo section hiker from Stowe, came into camp. He decided to stay in the shelter, but was worried about a camp of kids he passed that seemed to be headed this way. We ate dinner and sat with him while he ate.
