7/27/03 We are so close to a real bed and a warm shower we can taste it. This is at the junction of the spur trail to Spruce Peak Shelter. We hiked on to Spruce Peak, but because of the weather we passed its lookoff. The wind was roaring through the trees, tossing them about, and banging their limbs and trunks into one another. We didn't know whether to hike on or put up our hurricane shutters.
