7/28/03 Here we met Cobra and Splash (AT NoBo), Stringer (AT SoBo), and Paladin on his way out. Palladin told us a story about some Trail Magic that hooked him up with Bank Robber and his family, solving his accommodation problems for the night. While our laundry washed Rough chatted with Splash. Whenever Splash referred to his wife as "Cobra did this" or "Cobra did that" Rough kept wondering, who's Cobra? Isn't she his wife? And then Rough found himself tripping over his tongue when he tried to refer to his hiking wife as "Le….Tumble." Using other people's trail names doesn't feel as strange as using our own, especially in "civilization." Like, who are these people, Rough and Tumble? We ate Friendly's fries, read the instructions for our new purifier filter (to replace the one with the four-hour wait) that we purchased at the EMS store down the street, boxed the old one into the box from the new one and Rough walked it to the Mailboxes, etc. for shipment home while Tumble finished the laundry.
