8/28/03 We started up Mansfield, heading for Butler Lodge, 1.2 miles north. We went steady up through the Alpine trail. The trail wasn't particularly difficult, but we were very cold and stiff and our packs felt heavy. Tumble has a very hard time breathing in cold weather and that slowed us down some too.
