Mount Mansfield Summit: 4,393 Feet | ||
8/28/03 We finally reached the summit of Mansfield at 12:30pm. The wind was blowing so hard we could hardly stand on the marker. There were no views and we planned on staying only long enough for a picture. Tumble wanted to have her picture taken on the same rock where Uncle E stood last year, but it was too dangerous with the wind. Instead we stood on the marker and asked if anyone in a small group nearby would take our picture. They declined! There was no caretaker around, but a man nearby leaped up and offered. He was a professional photographer, but we were just glad to have our picture taken. Still can't figure out why the other people declined. Maybe they were too cold to move. |
