8/30/03 Brass Lantern innkeeper Andy served blueberry pancakes for breakfast, Rough's favorite. Andy served Tumble fresh fruit and she used water from the coffee warmer to make soup from her food bag. We packed up and decided to walk to Shaw's next door for last minute snacks. We were only a few steps on the road when we heard a car honking. It was Marty! We chatted for a bit while BJ, his dog, romped in the parking lot. Then Marty and his friend Michael K. drove to Johnson to leave Michael's car at the Long Tavern. When they came back Marty left his car in Andy's parking lot and we all piled into a cab for the ride to the trailhead at Smuggler's Notch on VT 108. We arrived at 11:45am
