Clarendon Shelter | ||
8/1/03 Rough stayed here as a young summer camper back in 1958 and then again with a friend on a weekend hike in 1970. The shelter with open bunks is surrounded by a beautiful pine forest that Rough recalled as a clearing with only a few saplings thirty years ago. With rain threatening again we decided to stay in the shelter. Junkie, an AT SoBo from MD, came in out of the rain while we were setting up. We ate dinner with a cold, hard rain darkening the skies and driving through the pines in front of us. We went to bed early. |
