9/3/03 We broke camp at 6am, cooked breakfast, said 'bye to everyone, and got on the trail by 8:15am. Tumble is still doing the one legged hike and her leg is really tired, but we hiked quickly and easily down to Plot Road. We crossed the road and entered an entirely different forest on the other side. How was it different? We hiked up into a "saddle". Our packs feel especially heavy going up. Rough keeps raising and lowering his straps to relieve some of the strain on his back. Up, up, up we went until Tumble began to feel like she was in a tractor pull and had to keep checking to make sure Rough wasn't hitching a ride on her pack.
