8/6/03 Who would believe these clothes were clean yesterday? We felt we were on some kind of mission -- to get our packs to Canada ASAP. Rough said, "Yeah, like the Pony Express, only hold the pony and hold the express." We startled several flocks of Ruffed Grouse and watched them flutter through the trees. A SoBo hiker named A.K. passed by. We spent a lot of the day "slabbing" around an unnamed peak and Mt.Carmel. In some places the path had eroded to barely six inches wide and threatened to crumble away under our feet and send us tumbling the down the side of the hill.
