9/5/03 It was another wet morning, but we are getting so we don't expect much else. Shepherd, SoBo, came into camp the night before. We got up around 6:30am and packed up our wet tent, fly, and ground sheet. Another day of straining under heavier packs. We watched a beautiful sunrise from the lookoff and ate breakfast under the pavilion nearby. We chatted with Shepherd and he was the first to leave camp, followed by Esther whose daughter stayed behind to break camp for them. We were the last to leave camp. We had an exciting day before us. We were looking forward to hiking through Devil's Gulch. We hiked into the gulch on a day hike once, but now we will see what's on the other side.
