9/5/03 We came to a fork in the trail and didn't like the looks of totally muddy trail to the left so Rough investigated the fork on the right. Unfortunately it petered out and we had to face sloshing through about .1 mile of thick, heavy mud over puncheons that had long ago outlived their usefulness. They lay crumbled and broken before us. We picked and slogged our way across as carefully as possible.
