Tumble Prepares Trail Meals

7/15/03 Tumble is experimenting with dried foods and spices for our trail meals. Since we're both vegan we will need to be a little more creative than most. She prepares dehydrated vegan trails meals: breakfast and dinner for 39 trail days. She's preparing vegetarian chili, refried beans, and mixing couscous, bulgur, quinoa, and rice with mushrooms, peas, carrots, corn, onions, and a variety of spices. She made a few packages of mixed dried blueberries, strawberries, and bananas for occasional after dinner desserts. Tumble also spiked a powdered brown rice protein drink with less than dash of Kool-Aid powder for us to drink each evening. At breakfast she'll re-hydrate dried soups. Rough is planning on oatmeal and cream of rice. For lunch we'll snack on nuts, dried fruit, vegetarian jerky, and "energy" bars.
